Tyler Couple Renewing Vows On 69th Anniversary

They first said "I do" in 1937 and decided to celebrate their 69th anniversary by doing it all over again! Tuesday, Mrs. Alberta Merritt walked down the aisle, again, to meet her husband, J.C., at the altar.
She was 18 and he was 20-years-old when they were first married in Arkansas. Their daughter, three grand children, and seven great-grandchildren were there to witness to nuptials. After the bride was kissed, Alberta told us the secret to their success.
"Not everything is always going to be peaches and cream and not it's not going to be sour grapes either.  Love is what overcomes the biggest battles," says the smiling 87-year-old sitting next to her 89-year-old husband.
Alberta also told us the ceremony was quite an affair compared to the site of their first wedding, which was in her parent's backyard.
