A former Longview school teacher, who is accused of killing her pastor husband, was in court today.
Sharon Daniels is on trial in Rusk County for first-degree murder. Police say she confessed to shooting her husband, David Daniels, three times back in September.
The defense team argues she did it in self-defense, and that David was a different man behind closed doors, but the prosecution claims Sharon shot him out of jealousy.
Friends and family say they just want the truth to come out about what happened. "Obviously a lot will come out that will put aside a lot of speculation that has been said on both sides and we just want the truth to come out," said a friend of both of the families.
Daniels' brother said that David was a "great man. He was a good guy, my best friend."
David Daniels was a pastor at an East Texas church and a corrections officer at the Bradshaw State Jail facility.
If convicted, Sharon Daniels faces life in prison.
