Salvation Army Gets New Captains

Captain's John and Melanie Falin are taking over duties for outgoing Tyler Salvation Army Majors Richard and Stephanie Hathorn.   The Falins come from Houston, where they worked for four years. During that time, they helped develop programs such as a disaster team, social services and a school for performing arts. So far, the Falins say they have gotten a good first impression of East Texas.

"We absolutely love it," said Captain John Falin. "It's a beautiful, beautiful city, and the community has just welcomed us and just filled with a lot of love and compassion."

"I've never seen a facility like this," said Captain Melanie Falin. "It's wonderful. It's brand new. The staff is amazing. They are so well trained, and they are doing a lot of good here and I'm excited to be apart of it."   The Falins say they are looking forward to input from residents on how to serve the community.
