Four East Texans Among Texas State Open 2nd Chance Qualifiers

19 qualifying spots for the Texas State Open were up for grabs today at The Cascades Golf Club and four East Texans made the cut.  Brad Weesner of Hide-a-way Lake tied for fourth with a 3-under 67.  Chris Edmonson of Flint and Greg Hamilton of Rusk tied for seventh with a 68.  John Sikes of Frankston tied for 14th, grabbing one of the last spots with a 1-under 69.  David Hene of Tyler and Michael Douthit of Palestine are alternates after shooting even par 70.  The Texas State Open begins next Tuesday, July 11 at The Cascades.

And every player was dressed in a suit and tie, a pretty business like approach already being sent from Head Coach Jason Garrett.     During Big 12 Media Days Tom Herman said that Texas would need Nacogdoches native Josh Thompson to play for the Longhorns as a freshman, in order to help the team be successful in year one under Coach Herman. But Thompson isn't the only freshman with high expectations.
