Controversial Hotel Plan Gets The OK From Smith County Officials

Smith County Planning and Zoning unanimously approved the plan to build a hotel in Tyler, despite opposition from residents who will live near it. The Hilton Hotel would be built along South Broadway and the new Grande extension. An office building will be just east of it, and a fence will separate the building from existing residential homes. Residents have complained the hotel would bring noise, more traffic, and possibly more crime. The plan still has to be approved by Tyler City Council.
