COPY-Death penalty cases among last Supreme Court actions

SUPREME COURT The Supreme Court has rejected appeals from Texas and Arizona in separate death penalty cases.

Texas wants a man executed for the murder of an elderly auto mechanic during a robbery. Justices made no comment in rejecting the appeal of a Texas court's decision that the man's constitutional rights were violated during the penalty phase of his trial. And justices refused to overturn an appeals court decision that gave an Arizona man a chance to pursue an appeal for his conviction in the murder of his adoptive mother. He claims his lawyers were inadequate.
