Juveniles Suspected In Longview Woodland Fires

Longview fire marshals believe juveniles are responsible for setting trees and brush on fire near a mobile home community.   It happened around just before 10 last night, near a remote, wooded area off of Pine Tree road.

Fire investigators say residents saw smoke and flames. Witnesses told investigators a group of young people were seen going into the area earlier on 4- wheelers. The fire burned more than two acres. This was the second one in the area in two days.

"This could all just go up into a big blaze and take all those mobile homes; that's where we live that's our homes it could kill somebody," said area homeowner Ada Cooper.

"You have a lot of underbrush here pine needles old trees that have been laying on the ground for years. It burns real quick and is very dangerous during these hot and dry conditions are dangerous," said Longview assistant fire marshal Barry Cates.

At this time, no arrests have been made.
