More funding may be on the way for some East Texas non profits. Tyler's Mayor Joey Seeber has proposed to use some of the city's general budget to help fund Community Development Block Grants. Earlier, it was announced funds would be cut in half. However, Mayor Seeber is recommending the city fund 4 requests totally $120,000.
"These are important agencies that provide very important services in our community so after the independent panel recommended that they be funded, then I thought it was important to do that," says Mayor Joey Seeber.
The four agencies include: Literacy Council of Tyler, Tyler AIDS Services, PATH and St. Paul Children's Foundation. This proposed funding will go before the city council next month.
