MIAMI (AP) _ Dwyane Wade scored 42 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and orchestrated a furious fourth-quarter Miami comeback as the Heat escaped with a 98-96 win over the Dallas Mavericks in Game Three of the NBA Finals.
The Heat rallied from a 13-point deficit in the final six and a-half minutes. Miami trails 2-to-1 but has the next two games at home where the Heat are 9-1 in the playoffs.
Miami reserve Gary Payton hit a jumper with 9.3 seconds left that gave the Heat the lead. It was Payton's only basket of the game.
Shaquille O'Neal added 16 points and 11 rebounds. The Heat enjoyed a 49-34 edge in rebounding.
Dallas still had plenty of chances late, but Dirk Nowitzki missed a free throw with 3.4 seconds to go. The Mavericks couldn't convert on an inbounds play in the final second.
Nowitzki led the Mavs with 30 points.
