Procession For Constable Dale Geddie

A procession was held this morning in Tyler for Constable Dale Geddie. He was shot and killed Wednesday while responding to a domestic disturbance call.

Law enforcement officers were escorting his body to Longview for cremation.   More than 75 people stood outside the courthouse to pay their respects to Constable Geddie. Four motorcycle officers lead the procession. As they passed in front of the courthouse, Smith County deputies saluted the late Constable Geddie. It was an emotional farewell to a man... so many friends say... was put on this earth to protect and serve.

"I will remember his laugh, teasing me and my last memory is Wednesday when we saw him and gave him a big hugs and said see you later and I left," says Julie Singleton.

"Constable Geddie was a wonderful man.  He always had a smile on his face, bright eyed, happy, nice to everyone.  Just the kind of man that you would want to be your daddy if you were a little kid," says Kristy Crawford.

"He was a great guy he always had a smile on his face, we all loved him and we miss him," says Judge Carole Clark.

A memorial service will be Saturday at 2:00 PM at Green Acres Baptist Church.
