An empty lot of land in North Tyler has been transformed into a backyard playground. PATH, People Attempting To Help, had a grand opening this morning for its backyard playground. Construction began a month ago, and for the first time children in the community were able to play.
"Putting together PATH's Backyard was a true community effort," said PATH Executive Director Christina Fulsom. "It involved many sponsors throughout the community and many volunteers, and what was wonderful was that the majority of the volunteers were children that lived in this neighborhood."
Starting next week, PATH along with the East Texas Food Bank will serve breakfast and lunch to the children in the community. PATH says it hopes to add on to the park in the future.
