East Texas Woman Doesn't Want Baby Born On 6/6/06

It's an anticipated day for most mothers... To give birth to a child.   But, one East Texas woman is not taking a chance on having her baby on June 6th. That's because it reads numerically on the calendar as 6-6-06.  Some, believe 6-6-6 is the sign of the devil.

One expectant mother will be induced before the 6th, to avoid the superstition.   Elizabeth Hart of Tyler is 9 months pregnant and she knows the baby could come at any time.  But one birth date she wants her baby girl to avoid, is June 6th of 06.

"I will not have my baby on the sixth, it's very bad luck," says Elizabeth.

Today, she went to a doctor for a checkup and what room does she go into... Number 6.

"I saw a big 6. I like that room though because it's blue," says Elizabeth.

However, that just happens to be the room where the non stress tests are done. Elizabeth says she's had 3 miscarriages, and wants to be extra cautious.

"We have already had a lot of problems throughout the whole pregnancy. I think something bad might happen on that day," says Elizabeth.

Nurse Practitioner, Georgia Day checked on both mom and baby.   She says Elizabeth is the first to request to stay away from the 6th.

"I'm sure there are other ones out there.  The dates people want to time around a birthday of a loved one or family member or grandparent but they are not going to do a delivery unless it is safe to do that," says Georgia Day, Nurse Practitioner of Women's Total Care of East Texas.

Elizabeth's due date is tomorrow, but it does not look like that will happen. So, she wants to make sure the baby is here before the 6th.

"Well the plan is we are going to induce on Monday," says Elizabeth.

She wants to ensure her baby has a good start in life and is not leaving anything to chance.
