East Texas Gets First Major Water Park

Standing 60 feet tall and spanning 11 acres, East Texas' first major water park gets ready to open. A wave pool, water slides, lazy river, you name it, this water park's got it. Designed by a local family, Splash Kingdom is a park the whole family can enjoy.

"We are about an hour East of Dallas and about an hour west of the Shreveport, Louisiana line. There is nothing from a water park related venue anywhere close," said Johnny Blevins, owner. Former school teachers, Johnny and Marci Blevins grew up in Canton. In just a few weeks, with the help of their ten-year-old son Brett, they will open Splash Kingdom.

"We're doing this because we wanted to bring something fun for families around here because there is not really a lot that families can do that's fun and safe and can bring everyone together," said Johnny Blevins. The park has five major water slides falling from a 60 foot high platform. There's also a wave pool, 900 foot long lazy river, and a children's area with a castle and a pool, but that's not all.

"We wanted it to be almost like a water park resort, so we have plenty of shade and trees and lounge chairs for everyone," said Blevins.  There is also an indoor facility with a pirate themed glow in the dark miniture golf course.

"We wanted to do a black light, it's glow in the dark, but we added a 3D feature, so it looks like the fish are swimming out to you," said Marci Blevins, owner.  Also inside, an arcade, food and beverage facility, and rooms for birthday parties. There is truly something for everyone.

"We want to make sure that everyone feels like family here," said Johnny Blevins.

"We want to see the smiles on their faces, and we want them to be excited," said Marci Blevins. When the doors open, Johnny, Marci and Brett say they will be right there with smiles of their own. Splash Kingdom is set to open in a few weeks. There is not an exact date at this time.
