A chocolate lovers' paradise today in Smith County. Chocolate cakes, chocolate pies, and, of course, chocolate chip cookies were brought out for the first ever Smith County Chocolate Dessert Contest.
More than 30 recipes were entered. In the end, judges decided a tuxedo cake would take first prize in the adult category. An oreo cookie cake won the youth division, which was a bit of a disappointment for 2nd place finisher Abbey Jeske.
"Well, I entered it in the county fair, and it got second place just like this, but it's really good. My mom calls it death by chocolate."
The contest was sponsored by the educational extension, which does a lot of volunteer work in the community.
