Several Restaurants Have Multiple Health Violations

Golden Corral at 420 WSW Loop 323 in Tyler was inspected May 18.

Chicken, ribs, ham, and enchiladas from 66-75 degrees; should be held at 41 degrees or below.

Raw chicken sitting in sink for approximately four hours (improper procedure).

Numerous other violations of cold food temperature requirements.

Steak and fish on steam line from 107 to 134 degrees. Should be 135 degrees or above. Improperly held foods were discarded.

Employee at dish machine handled clean utensils after dirty, without washing hands.

Products in cooler not date marked, not able to verify when prepared.

Additional equipment needed to ensure foods can be held at required cold temperatures.

Flies seen throughout kitchen area.

Numerous utensils and containers not clean. Plastic cups and plates not properly washed. Plastic bowls in dessert area moldy and damaged.

Total Demerits: 30.

Recheck ordered by June 2; not yet performed.

Honeysuckle Hill at 1105 S. Main in Lindale was inspected April 24.

Chicken salad at 45 degrees; should be 41 degrees or below.

Soup at 126 degrees; should be 135 degrees or hotter.

Chicken cooked to 155 degrees; cooked further to required 165 degrees.

Raw eggs stored above cakes and butter in cooler. Raw sausage stored above produce and cooked foods.

Products not date marked, not able to verify when prepared.

Rodent droppings found near canned goods.

Total Demerits: 29.

All violations corrected on sight. No recheck ordered.

Ryan's Family Steakhouse at 5602 South Broadway in Tyler was inspected May 5.

Seafood and tuna salad, ham, turkey, and eggs on salad bar tested at 46-49 degrees; must be 41 degrees or below.

Chopped steak, onions, shrimp, gumbo, chicken tenders, links tested from 96-126 degrees; must be 135 degrees or hotter.

All temperature violations corrected or products reheated.

Raw chicken stored above noodles, raw beef above sliced potatoes.

Numerous utensils, tubs, pans, slicer blades were not clean or properly stored.

Roaches seen in salad prep area, inside table in cook station, and on a wall.

Total Demerits: 28.

Recheck: May 23.

Products on salad bar at 48-53 degrees; should be 41 degrees or below.

Mashed potatoes and chicken tested at 107-129 degrees; should be 135 degrees or above.

Handwashing required before putting on new gloves.

Roaches seen in salad prep area, on a wall, in bakery.

Animal droppings seen on shelves in storage room.

Silverware and pans not fully cleaned.
