A new $3 million health care clinic is now open for East Texans.
The University Health Clinic is on the UT Tyler campus, just off Patriot Avenue. A ribbon cutting and open house were held on Tuesday for the 10,000 square foot clinic. The clinic is a collaboration between UT Health Center and UT Tyler. It offers two services, one for UT Tyler students and the other for the public. The health clinic offers, allergy testing, radiology, family medicine and laboratory services.
"It is an opportunity for us to provide services to the community as well as the students, health services and it's just part of our mission," says Dr. Kirk Calhoun, President at UT Health Center at Tyler.
"There will be great services provided to our university family. Students have been asking to have something close to home for a long time so we are pleased to have it available," says Dr. Rodney Mabry, President at UT Tyler.
Dr. Mabry says UT Tyler students who are studying to become nurses will also receive some training at the clinic.
