Hallsville Boy Seeks Life changing Surgery

An east Texas boy is headed to California for an experimental surgical procedure that could change his life. 15 year old Michael Watson of Hallsville suffers from "distonia", a disease that has left him wheelchair bound. An experimental surgical procedure in California might give Michael the ability to walk, talk and function freely. Dystonia is a neurological movement disorder characterized by involuntary muscle contractions that force certain parts of the body into abnormal, sometimes painful, movements or postures.

Michaels parents have held countless fundraisers to help with massive medical bills. The free surgical procedure, deep brain stimulation through implanted electrodes, will be performed at Stanford university medical center on Friday.
