Hundreds of Latinos gathered at the East Texas Fairgrounds, to mark the day Mexico won a key battle against the French, which ultimately led to its independence.
There was music for everyone to enjoy, and plenty of food and fun for the little ones. During the festivities, an award was presented to Nick Sciarrini with the Northeast Texas Public Health District. Sciarrini has been with the Health District for 12 years, helping people who cannot afford health insurance get the medical attention they need. He also serves on the board of The Hispanic Association.
