More than 200 women from around East Texas gathered at Breckenridge Village today to raise money for the organization. For the first time, Breckenridge Village, a home for the mentally challenged, held a spring luncheon to benefit its scholarship fund.
"The residents, a lot of them don't have families anymore, so that helps raise scholarship dollars for them," said Director of Development for Breckenridge Village Linda Taylor. "It's also for other people here that just need assistance, so it's a wonderful event to help the residents at Breckenridge Village."
Each table at the luncheon was sponsored by a group of women who decorated the table and even brought their own china for the event. Organizers say they hope to raise $20,000 through today's event.
