East Texans Walk For Arthritis Cure

The Arthritis Foundation in Tyler held a walk this morning to raise awareness and funds to fight the disease. Many think arthritis only affects older adults, but 300,000 children and 11 million dogs suffer from the disease every year. Those that suffer from arthritis walked this morning as well as pets and their owners. Others came out to walk in honor of someone close to them.

"I'm personally doing it because my family has been affected by it," said participant Julie Miller. "My mother has arthritis. I've had several dogs with it and it's a very devastating disease, and I think it's important that we raise money to find a cure."

May is National Arthritis Month. Tyler is just one of 400 communities nationwide that raise money for arthritis research.
