Smith County voters will decide on two jail proposals starting tomorrow during early voting. On the ballot is an $83 million bond package for a downtown jail, and a $75 million bond package for a so-called remote location.
Two informational meetings about the proposals are being held this week. The first is tomorrow night at 6:00 p.m. at the Whitehouse City Hall at 101-A Bascom Road in Whitehouse. A second meeting will be held on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at Bullard City Hall on Phillips Street.
