A stand-off with Tyler Police ends peacefully after nearly seven hours. It happened in the one thousand block of Carroll Street in South Tyler. That's near TJC and ETMC. Police were trying to serve an arrest warrant to 31 year old Duan Brooks. He was wanted for parole violations.
Beginning around 3:30 Thursday afternoon, police barricaded every entrance into the neighborhood. Tyler Fire and EMS crews were on hand. Police say they took their time, because of Brooks' extensive criminal background. There were also multiple other people in the house, including at least one child. After continued negotiations, the man finally surrendered to police.
Officer Don Martin with the Tyler Police Department said, "The subject was taken into custody at 10:07 pm tonight. Again, through the negotiation of talking him out. There was no force used. No shots were fired, and it ended successfully."
Tyler Police say they will look into whether additional charges will be filed against the man for evading arrest.
