Two East Texas Gymnasts Prepare For Nationals

The USA Gymnastics Junior Olympics National Championships are considered a spring board for Olympic hopefulls trying to get some national attention. And, East Texas, once again, has a couple of gymnasts partipating. 16-year-old Courtney Harris of Whitehouse is set to make her first trip to nationals as a level 10 gymnast.

"I'm really excited," Harris said, "because you get to see all the hard work pay off and everything that you've tried for has happened."

She will be joined by 16-year-old Storey Morris of Flint, who makes her second trip to nationals. Storey has also trained with the national team.

"My goal is to get a full ride scholarship," said Morris, "so it's cool. There are colllege recruiters that are going to be watching and so you can just be like, 'yeah, I'm Storey, and I want a college scholarship'!"

The girls leave Thursday morning for Oklahoma City, where the top finishers will qualify for the National Junior Olympic team.
