TJC pitcher Cody Taylor achieved something today no other Neches high school baseball player had ever done before. He signed a baseball scholarship with a four year college. Taylor today signed with Arkansas Tech.
"It's pretty special," said Taylor. "We went to state in basketball and that put Neches on the map, but to go to a 4-year as far as baseball, nobody else has done it. It feels pretty good. It's not anything I've ever felt before."
Coach Groth said Taylor has been his number one pitcher all spring... helping lead the Apaches to a top ten national ranking.
"Cody is an athletic player," said Groth. "He's got good size, good arm strength. He's got a solid future as a pitcher at the next level."
"I had an ultimate goal to play 4-year baseball," Taylor said. "I worked hard. Coach showed me what I needed to do to get better, get stronger, throw faster. So far it's worked for me, and this is proof that if you work hard, you can go where you want to go."
