Mission Of Mercy Screenings

About 300 people showed up for free dental, vision and medical screenings at TJC today. It was a prelude to the Texas Mission Of Mercy Project.

A line stretched out the door, and through numerous waiting rooms. Patients were waiting to talk with doctors about problems they're having. Today, their conditions were diagnosed, and an appointment for their free treatment was made.

Dr. John Watkins has been with Mission Of Mercy for five years, and says he looks forward to the chance to help people who might not be able to afford it otherwise. "The first priority is pain, getting people out of pain. Then, if they have a front tooth that interferes with appearance, we take care of that, so that they can get back to work, and get a job. Things like that," Watkins said.

If you did not make it to the screening today, but would like to see a doctor, they will take some walk-ins. If you're interested, you need to be at the South Parking lot of Marvin United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 6th at 7:00 AM. They will let patients know by mid-morning, if a doctor can see them.
