Lawyers for Zacarias Moussaoui (zak-uh-REE'-uhs moo-SOW'-ee) today resume their effort to convince a jury not to sentence him to death.
They are expected to call experts to testify that Moussaoui suffers from mental problems, and therefore should be given life in prison and not sentenced to death.
One person who won't be taking the stand is convicted "shoe bomber"" Richard Reid, who is serving a life sentence for trying to blow up a transatlantic flight more than four years ago.
Last Friday, the judge vacated an order she had previously issued requiring Reid to testify for the defense. Moussaoui has said that Reid was part of his plan to hijack a plane and fly it into the White House.
The jury is expected to begin deliberating this week.
