Easter In The Park

Many East Texans took the time to celebrate Easter with their friends and family. In Tyler's Bergfeld Park, hundreds of people enjoyed a less than traditional worship service. Contemporary Christian music kicked off the service, led by Marvin United Methodist's Power Praise team.

There was a balloon release, and plenty of singing and clapping from the congregation. Charlotte Floyd, music minister for the church, says they like to hold Easter service outside, because it is more accessible to the entire community. "There's a full band. People are comfortable. They're excited. They can express themselves any way they want to. The message is the same. It's about the resurrection of Christ, but we can just be ourselves," Floyd said.

This is the sixth year for the service, but the last three have been rained out, so they were grateful for the beautiful weather.
