Proud Of East Texas: Athens Cowboy Church

Cowboy Churches are one of the fastest growing ministries in the entire world. Athens Cowboy Church Pastor Perry Smith says it's a niche ministry that's non-traditional and that appeals to people.

Athens Cowboy Church's bull riding at the Henderson County Rodeo Arena attracts as many as 400 people each Tuesday night. Close to 60 bull riders, ranging in age from eight to 35, ride rodeo stock furnished by "Glory Be Rodeo Company". There's no admission to watch or to ride, except to stay for the service which includes entertainment, food and testimonials.

It all seems to be working since the church is growing by leaps and bounds. Bull riding begins Tuesday nights at 7:00.
