East Texas judges, police chiefs and sheriffs all put on aprons tonight for an event benefiting CASA for kids. The event Justice Is Served, is a fundraiser for CASA, which stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates. A silent auction was held along with a live auction.
After a rocky year with its board, CASA says it has moved on and is stronger because of it. "As most people know CASA had some issues and those issues have been dealt with," said East Texas CASA President, Ken George. "We primarily have a new board and we have turned things around and we look for a very bright future for CASA and continue doing what we do best and that's working with the courts and helping our children."
Last year, CASA closed more than 100 cases.
