Another march is set to take place Monday in Tyler to protest a proposed bill before Congress. The measure would make it a felony to enter the U.S. illegally and would punish those who help an illegal immigrant.
According to a flyer, the rally is expected to head down Gentry, to Broadway and then to the downtown square.
"We're trying to organize this to have the city officials participate with us. It's going to be a very peaceful rally. We just want the city to be involved as well. We don't want to just show up and surprise everybody," said Vickie Murillo, who's helping to organize the rally.
Organizers say they expect at least 500 people to show up.
