At a news conference in Tyler Tuesday, Governor Rick Perry commented on Delay's decision to bow out. He didn't offer his feelings on the scandal, instead wishing the embattled congressman the best. "Tom Delay was a very successful congressman, delivered a lot of good things for the state of Texas. We appreciate his work and we wish him great good and God speed in his next endeavor," says Governor Perry.
Perry was in Tyler promoting the tax reform plan. The proposed plan is supposed to be a stable source of revenue to fund education, by slashing property taxes and offering a broader-based franchise tax for businesses.
