Smith County voters are getting new information to help them make up their mind on the upcoming jail bond election. Smith County Commissioners will be getting brochures printed for voters by tomorrow. The pamphlet provides an overview of the need for a new jail, as well as the project's history, frequently asked questions and an explanation of the ballot.
"This process is about people voting their opinion has got to be educated. What I would hate to see is any resolution pass or fail because of misinformation or not enough information," said Smith County Commissioner David Stein, who helped put the brochure together.
The brochures will also be available in Spanish. Commissioner Stein says the pamphlets will be distributed at commissioners public meetings and at county offices.
