A federal grand jury has indicted three college students on conspiracy and arson charges related to nine Alabama church fires.
Evidence indicates the fires started as a prank that got out of hand during a night of drinking and illegal hunting. Defense attorneys have said last month's fires were not hate crimes. Attorney's for two of the students say discussions with prosecutors could lead to guilty pleas.
No arrests have been made in a tenth church blaze that was believed to be the work of a copycat.
