Tyler welcomed the largest delegation of international guests this weekend, all the way from Tyler's sister city Yachiyo City, Japan. This afternoon 39 members of the Yachiyo City Boys and Girls Choir performed for the public at Marvin United Methodist Church. The choir has been preparing for this tour the last six months. This week is the 10th anniversary of Yachiyo City's first visit to Tyler, but the relationship began in 1992.
There are events planned all week. Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. the Japanese Consul General will be speaking at UT Tyler's Cowan Center. The lecture is free and open to the public. Then at 7:00 p.m. the Yachiyo City Choir will be performing again with TJC's choir at Wise Auditorium.
