After four days of battles on the court, the NJCAA Region XIV finals brought the tournament to a close Monday night, and the Trinity Valley Lady Cardinals became champions.
Trinity Valley, the number two team in the country, was the top seed in the tournament. The Lady Cardinals defeated Blinn, 86-48.
TVCC won the national championship in 2004. Coach Mike Landers thinks hid team has a strong chance to do it in 2006.
"If this group will stay focused, if they will play together and have one common goal and everybody will do their part, they have the opportunity," he said after the game.
Trinity Valley will play in the NJCAA National Championship games in Salina, Kansas. The tournament is March 21-25.
