Tigers Roll On, Earn Title Game Berth

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) _ Sedrick Johnson had 18 points and 16 rebounds as Arp beat San Antonio Cole, 55-46, in the Class 2A boys' high school basketball semifinals. Johnson had ten second-half points in Arp's big third quarter, in which it outscored Cole 17-6 while holding Cole to 3-of-16 shooting. Wes Wills added 12 points for the Tigers.

Cole's Shane Russe led all scorers with 22 points -- but the Cougars shot just 18 of 62 for the game. Cole finishes at 29-and-seven, ending its first tournament appearance since 1989. That's when future N-B-A star center Shaquille O'Neal led the Cougars to an undefeated season and the Two-A title. O'Neal had visited the Cole team in December and called them this week to give them a pep talk.

Arp improves to 31-4 and advances to Saturday's title game in the school's first state tournament appearance. The Tigers will play Ponder (33-6), who beat Tahoka 56-47 in today's other semifinal game. Saturday's game is scheduled for 10am.
