Alabama Officer Charged In East Texas Case

East Texas authorities believe a 14-year-old Titus County girl was targeted by a child predator. The suspect is law enforcement officer in Alabama. A 15-year veteran of the Huntsville Alabama Police Department Kenneth Haga was booked into jail last week on two Titus county warrants. He's charged with  "promoting child pornography" and "sexual performance by a child for graphic sexual images".

"Investigators became aware of the situation when the parents of the girl brought in evidence of communications between the officer and the 14 year old girl" said Titus County Chief Deputy Miguel Larsen.

The family knew Haga through his 21 year old girlfriend who lives in Titus County. She is, now, also a suspect.

"Connection between the officer and the 14 year old here was made through a 21 year old suspect who we have who's also involved with this case" said Larsen.

Sheriffs say Haga and the teenager involved had met in person in Mount Pleasant.

"If there are any other children involved, this investigation will tell us" Larsen said.

Haga remains jailed in Madison county Alabama, and Titus county officials are seeking extradition.
