Thieves Break Into Several Cars Overnight

Thieves break into several cars overnight, taking hundreds of dollars worth of items. Most of the ten reported break ins happened in South Tyler on Old Bullard Road. Police say four cars were broke into in the Salado Apartments parking lot, and just down the road, two more auto burglaries happened at Bullard Creek Apartments. Police say when a series of auto burglaries happen at an apartment complex, it's usually the same person or group of people breaking in. The burglars are taking everything from stereos, to cash, wallets and CD's.

"Most of the time they break the window out," said Officer Don Martin, Tyler Police Department. "It takes two seconds to shatter that window and then they're in that car. A majority of it again is high dollar stereo equipment. They are probably walking through the lots at night and looking into the cars and what kind of stereo equipment they have." Police say if you see someone suspicious walking around you're parking lot, call police.
