East Texan Donates Kidney To Brother

Giving the gift of life. For one East Texan it was a simple choice, giving her kidney to her brother.

"He needed it and he's my brother. It's a great gift and I'm very blessed that I can give it to him," says Laura Corbett.

Laura says she didn't give it a second thought about donating a kidney to her brother. "He has juvenile diabetes, he got it in high school. He has been on dialysis for over a year now and it's time he needs it," says Laura.

Laura's brother, 50 year old Bill Corbett of Arlington, has kidney failure. He's been waiting two years for a kidney donor.

Bill says it was around Christmas when he found out Laura was a match. "It was an early Christmas present for me," says Bill.

"If people every wonder does God answer prayers, he does," says Laura.

In just a few days, Laura will travel to Dallas and meet her brother for the kidney transplant.

"It's a great sacrifice and something I can never repay back. I just really appreciate what she is doing," says Bill.

"He has two children and two grandchildren and he needs to be around to see those grandchildren to continue to grow up. He loves them and just has a sparkle in his eye when he sees those children and it's a blessing an absolute blessing," says Laura.

It's a second chance at life for Bill, thanks to his sister. Bill says after the transplant he's looking forward to traveling more.
