Arson Again Investigated In Longview

For the ninth time in just 2 months, Longview Fire Marshals have an arson on their hands. This latest fire happened last night in the 7-hundred block of Butler Drive. That's on the south side of town. Investigators say someone set fire to the back of the home. A mother and two children lived there but were not home at the time. Nearly all their possessions were destroyed.

This fire comes on the heels of a suspected "drug-house" fire set a week ago on Pine Street. So far, no arrests have been made. Investigators say there are a number of variables for arson.

"People do it for the money if they're in a bind, if they have a lot of insurance. Revenge, drugs those are the types of fires we're looking at so far" said Longview Assistant Fire Marshal Jimmy Purcell.

Longview Crime Stoppers are offering to pay a one thousand dollar reward for information leading to the arsonist's arrest. There have been 54 arsons in Longview in just the last year. Bob Hallmark reporting.
