Bogus Katrina Evacuee Pleads Guilty

In federal court in Tyler Tuesday, Walter Ray Stall pleaded guilty to one of two federal charges against him. Last year a KLTV 7 investigation revealed Stall's true identity. He called himself Ray Johnson and lied about losing a wife and son in Katrina. Stall applied for FEMA assistance to receive $2,000 and pleaded guilty to "mail fraud." A second federal charge of filing a false claim was dismissed. Stall will be sentenced at a later date.
