Longview Girl Scouts Send Soldiers Cookies

A group of Longview youngsters put together a special delivery of cookies for soldiers stationed overseas today. Longview girl scouts from Troop 2851 and 2870 have collected more than 700 boxes of girl scout cookies to be sent to more than 60 soldiers serving in Iraq. The girls call it "Operation Appreciation". They say they want to show their support of U.S. troops and give them a little taste of home.

The girls sold cookies to customers then asked them to buy a second box to be sent to troops. Each gift box contains 12 boxes of girl scout cookies, and a little message from the girls.

The girls sold cookies beginning January first to come up with the packages, which will arrive to troops in a couple of weeks.
