Employees Vent Frustrations To School Board

Lindale ISD employees vented some of their frustrations at Thursday night's school board meeting. It's been more than two weeks since the district announced 45 to 55 jobs would have be cut. That's how the district hopes to dig their way out of an almost three million dollar deficit. With virtually everyone's job on the chopping block, employees are growing impatient with the board and the administration.

LISD bus driver Bill Hudgens told the board, "A lot of people have suggested the superintendent forgo part of her salary in light of all the cuts that are being made. I think that would go a long way toward the morale problem that we have."

6th grade teacher Whitney Cruz told them, "I've been offended by the impatience, and in some instances, the condescension with which our questions have been met. The answers at times come with a sigh, and an eye roll."

The assistant superintendent told us the board would not  approve job cut recommendations for at least another week, but teachers think, depending on what happens in tonight's closed session, they could know if they have a job as early as tomorrow.
