East Texan Accused Of Making Terroristic Threat

An East Texas man, ordered to clean up a huge illegal dumpsite, could soon be in more trouble.

Cole Hays, 23 years old, is accused of making a terroristic threat.  Monday, Smith County Environmental Investigator, Sgt. Danny Brasher, gave Hays 30 days to clean up the dumpsite, which covers more than 5 acres in Northwest Smith County.

After that, officials say Hays made threats directed towards officers, a neighbor and our KLTV 7 news crew.

Sgt. Danny Brasher says, "I did speak with his family members and they are trying to get him to turn himself in. Family member are extremely nice and they want to resolve this issue and get him to turn himself in and that's what we hope he will do."

Brasher says making a terroristic threat is a class B misdemeanor. Punishable by a $2,000 fine and/or 180 days in jail.
