Habitat Ground Blessing

Habitat For Humanity held a Ground Blessing Ceremony today, for their newest house.

Work was supposed to begin on Bernadette Hampton's home back in September, but when Hurricane Katrina hit the gulf coast, the funds went to help others who were displaced by the storm. Today, friends, family and church members gathered with Bernadette to say a blessing over the ground her new home will be built on. She says the time of fellowship was a way to thank God for the gift of a new home.

"We're supposed to come together, and honor Him in spirit and in true service. By coming together, we're giving Him reverence, we're giving Him the thanks and praise that this day may actually be a start, a new start," Hampton said.

Construction on her home is scheduled to begin March 4th.
