Students Learn About Costa Rican Culture

Hundreds of East Texas children had the chance to experience the culture of a Central American country today. Students at Andy Woods Elementary in Tyler were amazed as they walked into their library. The school displayed a number of artifacts, pictures and items from Costa Rica.  The school held the event because they want children to have a better understanding of the world.

Students were intrigued as they looked at how each item works. "They put a cup in it and they pour seeds and it's actually a lot different than ours," explained 2nd grader, Amanda Shaddock, as she showed us how a hand-made coffee-maker works.

This is the third such event for the school. Previously, students learned all about Greece and China.  The school has chosen the countries because they have students with ties to those places.  The school has yet to decide what country to display next.
