PRESS RELEASE FROM KLTV - - Tyler, Longview, Jacksonville |ETX News

KLTV’s main broadcast tower collapsed this morning, cutting our transmission to East Texas except for customers of Cox Communications.

The following Cox Communications Customers CAN see KLTV's broadcast signal:
Tyler, Jacksonville, Mineola, Gladewater, Henderson, Winnsboro, Grand Saline, Mt. Pleasant, Mt. Vernon, and Sulphur Springs.

Our tower is located near the Red Springs community about 10 miles north of
Tyler. Residents around our tower location said they heard the sound of metal crashing around 7:30 this morning. That is the time our broadcast signal went to black for most viewers. Our tower is just over 1,078 feet tall.

Our analog, digital and high definition antennae's are were on that tower. Digital and high def antennae's were just put up late last year.

Investigators are on the scene trying to determine why the tower crash. So far they have only told us they do not believe the weather this morning was a factor.

We are working on providing our programming to cable systems across
East Texas as well as Dish and Direct T-V satellite providers. While we do not believe our transmitter, which was is house in a building next to the collapsed tower, was not damaged we are trying to move it to a different location and resume our broadcast at least on low power.
