Cowboys Add New Coach

The Dallas Cowboys today hired Chris Palmer as quarterbacks coach. The move will reunite Palmer with coach Bill Parcells, quarterback Drew Bledsoe and receiver Terry Glenn from their days in New England. Palmer worked for Parcells on the Patriots from 1993-to-1996. Palmer was offensive coordinator for Jacksonville (1997-98), head coach in Cleveland (1999-2000) and offensive coordinator of the Houston Texans (2001-05). Palmer fills the Dallas vacancy created when Sean Payton left to become head coach in New Orleans. By naming Palmer the quarterbacks coach, the Cowboys have put in limbo the status of David Lee -- who had that title last season. Lee remains under contract and had the added job description of being in charge of offensive quality control. Another job still open is linebackers coach -- since Gary Gibbs is now Payton's defensive coordinator with the Saints.
