Hydroplaning Causes Several Accidents

Accidents caused by hydroplaning were seen all over East Texas. Two cars collided this afternoon in Smith County after one lost control. It happened around 3:00 p.m. on Highway 155 in Noonday, just North of Big Eddy Road. Witnesses say the driver of one car was traveling South on Highway 155 when the car began hydroplaning. The car then spun around and was hit by oncoming traffic. The drivers were transported to a local hospital. No word yet on their condition.

Hydroplaning was also a major problem on I-20 today all because some drove too fast. DPS troopers responded to several cases of cars driving into the ditch. In Smith County, two accidents occurred within 200 feet of each other. All together, five cars ended up in the ditch. In one accident, a truck crossed lanes into oncoming traffic and ended up hitting a car. Troopers say no one was seriously injured.
