Freedom Fighter: Billy Cole

As Facility Manager for Hibbs Hallmark And Company, Billy Cole is responsible for the security of everyone in the building. He says the viligence, loyalty, and dedication he learned in the U.S. Army Special Forces are lessons he applys in his work today. Cole says he joined the Army because he wanted to learn to fly and to parachute. As a member of Special Forces he learned that and much more. Cole arrived in Southeast Asia at thr height of the Vietnam War. Be was sent to the Highlands to train the Mountainyards, or mountain people. It was an area where the Viet Cong were as "numerous as leaves on a tree", as one Mountainyard told him. Cole received numerous medals, including the Purple Heart for wounds in his leg and head. He says that was a small sacrifice and that we are so blessed in this country that we are "charged" with helping others less blessed.
